We are looking for an individual with an interest and or background in e-machines, controls or electrified powertrain engineering for their future.
Baker Engineering, LLC (Baker) specializes in the design and development of high-tech, high-performance technologies for a wide range of applications—including custom military and commercial engines, electrified vehicle range extenders, hybrid systems, engine components, and the production of parts and mechanical assemblies for other industries. Baker is a division of Waséyabek, which is wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, a federally recognized Indian Tribe.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineering Intern will assist with R&D and design projects through engineering analysis, CAD design, prototype testing, data analysis, and reporting. Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers, perform inspections, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis in support of R&D and design projects
- Use CAD software to create design for prototype manufacturing
- Perform lab tests, analyze test data and report results
- Collaborate with internal manufacturing and outside suppliers to produce prototype parts
- Perform component inspections and measurements
- Contribute to technical reports
- Complete other technical activities, as assigned
- Assist in manufacturing and continuous improvement projects
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3rd or 4th year student actively enrolled in an ABET Accredited Engineering program
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to support the Baker culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by BE
- Proficient using standard desktop office software (typical Microsoft Office suite)
- US Citizenship (ITAR and EAR compliance)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working towards a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design & Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with combustion engines, power generation or propulsion equipment
- Proficient use of PTC Creo CAD software (or similar)
- Experience using CAE software tools
- Passion for work involving engines and propulsion equipment
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to focus on computer screens for extensive periods of time
- Stand and reach occasionally
- Lift and move up to 25 lb
- Ability to tolerate loud noises infrequently
