Entry Level Fleet Mechanic Compensation
Metro bases its Entry Level Fleet Mechanic pay structure on education, and mechanical aptitude assessments scores. Metro offers paid training for those who wish to become an Entry Level Fleet Mechanic but do not currently possess a commercial driver's license and passenger endorsement. When ready, our mechanical aptitude test allows each employee to level up at their own pace.
Entry Level Fleet Mechanic Starting Pay Rate: $21.02 / HR with $30.03 / HR as top pay
Entry Level Fleet Mechanic Job Duties, Physical Demands, & Qualifications Job Duties
- Repair ad signs, change lights, mirrors, seats and other similar bolt on components.
- Steam clean engine compartments and other bus parts as required.
- Cleaning and degreasing of wheels and coach rear panels.
- Removal of graffiti from interiors and exteriors.
- Assist Repairperson as required.
- Ability to understand and use basic test instruments and gauges.
- Make all necessary reports and keep records, both written and data entry, in accordance with the policies, procedures and requirements of Metro.
- Keep work area clean, free of safety hazards and in orderly condition
- Drive any vehicle owned and operated by Metro as defined by qualification and job classification
- Work in a safe manner with all required protective devices in accordance with Metro safety policy and procedures.
- During the completion of a job or task involving Metro equipment, an employee may be required to perform work in lower classifications as assigned based on the needs of the business and our customers
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Must possess high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a Mechanical Aptitude Test
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have open availability to work across all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Driver's License
- No more than 4 points on motor vehicle report
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with passenger endorsement.
- Must be able to pass a DOT or non-DOT drug screen and physical (pre-employment testing is dependent upon pay rate
