The Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations. A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner. This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient. The Associate Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations. A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner. This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient.
Primary Location: 2800 Marcus Ave, New Hyde Park, NY 11042 with the opportunity to cover at other nearby locations as needed
Hours: 37.5 total hours per week. Monday - Friday between 8:00am & 5:00pm
Specialty: Pediatric gastroenterology
Primary Responsibilities:
- Obtains patient histories and vital signs and records accurately in the electronic medical record
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment and documents chief complaints
- Perform blood draws on pediatric patients in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner. Ensures adherence to clinical protocols and infection control standards while minimizing patient discomfort
- Retrieves laboratory and radiology test results and instructs patients regarding medications and treatment per clinician's instructions
- Responsible for managing and completing prior authorization requests for pediatric patients, including medications, specialized formulas, and prescriptions
- Stocks supplies and prepares exam rooms and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor surgeries
- Potential for heavy phone usage. Responds to incoming phone calls and refers if necessary. Calls patients as necessary to follow up and/or schedule appointments
- Performs other duties as assigned

Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience.
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of office experience
- Experience with PC and Microsoft office
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting or completion of an accredited phlebotomy certification program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant certification
- 1+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant performing front and clinical back-office duties
- Pediatric experience
- Experience working with EPIC EMR software
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $24.23 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
