- Monitoring/Sampling Intern
Description
Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) has an exciting opportunity for an emerging professional to provide assistance in all facets of the daily field activities of the Monitoring Department and provide firsthand experience to a student pursuing an environmental career. You will receive a basic understanding of a sanitary and combined sewer conveyance system. Additionally, you will learn how to use a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and various EPA/DNR approved sampling techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Over the course of the internship, you will receive hands-on training in the collection of industrial waste, ground water, storm water, and separate sewer overflow/combined sewer overflow (SSO/CSO) samples. You will also learn how to program various types of equipment, including flow meters, wastewater samplers, water quality equipment, rain gauges, piezometers, and dataloggers.
Requirements
The intern should currently be enrolled in or recently graduated from a two or four-year degree program in an environmental-related field. Must possess the ability to lift 50 pounds. A valid driver's license and a good driving record at time of application, during the selection process, and throughout the internship is required.
Supplemental Information:
This 12-week summer internship is full-time, Monday through Friday, 6:30 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.
