Description
EDG IncJobSummary:
The Project Controls Specialist (Scheduler) is responsible for theconstruction schedules for Power Generation projects. The project schedulerwill work with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project ControlsManager, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to develop and maintainconstruction schedules. The schedulerwill report current status and any potential issues up to the Project ControlsManager for assigned projects.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
• Assist project manager to develop projectscope of work.
• Study and understand all relevant projectdocuments pertaining to the preparation of plans and
schedules.
• Work with all relevant project and disciplinepersonnel to prepare plans and schedules.
• Convert scope of work document into logicallylinked resourced-loaded project schedule.
• Prepare realistic, achievable schedules aslogical networks and where necessary integrate
engineering, procurement, andconstruction schedules.
• Monitor progress against project schedule andprepare progress reports.
• Gather accurate progress and expended costinformation at relevant time intervals.
• Prepare, review, and ensure the timely issueof all relevant reports to stakeholders.
• Verbally and in writing advise projectmanagement and discipline personnel on impacts,
contingencies and generally guide thescopes towards the earliest possible finish.
• Analyze progress and effects on schedule andadvise necessary corrective actions.
• Mentor other Project Controls Specialist onthe team.
• Develop and/or modify Project Controlsprocesses and working procedures based on feedback from project stakeholdersand upper management.
• Serve as a key point of contact for uppermanagement to discuss high-visibility projects and issues.
• Lead/Assist in the development of Cost andSchedule QRAs (Quantitative Risk Assessment).
• Participate in schedule and project riskanalysis as required.
• May assist as a Stage Gate Process GateReviewer by performing rigorous evaluations of project
development and control deliverables,including business cases presented by project teams.
• Provide input into the budget forecastingprocess.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Basic or Minimum Requirements
• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• Requires ten (10) or more years of ProjectControls related experience.
• Requires previous experience utilizingPrimavera P6 to build schedules.
• Must be able to effectively communicate withproject stakeholders and upper management.
• Requires a basic working knowledge of projectmanagement software, specifically Primavera P6 and Excel.
• Prior experience in managing large capitalproject schedules.
• Requires the ability to manage multipleprojects and determine priorities.
• Must be a skilled writer.
• Must understand the basic principles ofproject management.
• Requires a general understanding of CostManagement, Estimating and Change Control.
• Candidate must be willing to work on worksites at least 4 days per week when construction is in progress (per diemprovided for out of area candidates).
• Must have a high degree of computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Prior experience in Power Generation, OilRefineries, or Chemical Plant industries.
WorkingConditions:
• Work is conducted in an office environment(Private or Semi-Private Office) on an active construction site.
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant orconstruction atmosphere
• Interaction with other team members, as well assupervisors and client personnel
• Working plant, construction, and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
