Description
Are you passionate about weather and interested in a career in broadcast journalism? WGNO News is now accepting applications for its Spring, 2026 Weather Internship Program. This internship provides college students with hands-on experience in a fast-paced television newsroom, working directly with our award-winning Weather Department.Interns will gain practical exposure to forecasting, daily operations, and on-air weather production. This is an excellent opportunity for students seeking real-world training and mentorship from experienced professionals in the field.
Internship Details:
- Department: Weather
- Semester: Spring, 2026
- Compensation: Unpaid (must receive academic credit)
- Eligibility: Open to college or university students who are eligible to receive credit
- Schedule: Based on academic program requirements and availability
What You'll Experience:
- Participate in the day-to-day operations of a working weather team
- Collaborate with meteorologists, reporters, producers, and photojournalists
- Work on projects that may include forecasting preparation, graphics creation, and assisting with live weather segments
- Receive direct supervision and feedback in a meaningful, educational environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Junior or senior enrolled in a broadcast journalism, meteorology, communications, or related program
- Internship must be for school credit
- Demonstrated interest or experience in media production or weather coverage
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Previous internship experience is a plus
- Must adhere to all company safety protocols and guidelines
- Expected to maintain the confidentiality of company operations and proprietary information
